Mangaluru: Dr. PS Harsha, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner on Wednesday added that no organisation, political party or other entities will be allowed to organise or hold protests in the city on December 19-20. The Police Commissioner had earlier in the day imposed prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC starting 9:00 pm on Wednesday till midnight of December 20.
Speaking to Vartha Bharati, Dr. Harsha confirmed that the prohibitory orders were imposed to maintain the law and order in the city.
When asked about a message that is being widely shared on local social media groups claiming protest on December 19 outside DC Office in the city by SKSSF, the Police Commissioner added that no organisation, political parties will be allowed to hold protests when the prohibitory orders are in place.
He also added that the department will take note and initiate action against those spreading such messages on social media platforms detailing about protests or demonstrations during the period when the prohibitory orders are in place.

Ahmedabad (PTI): Shubman Gill led from the front with a classy 86 as Gujarat Titans defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by five wickets in an Indian Premier League match here on Friday.
Earlier, KKR all-rounder Cameron Green produced a fighting 79 off 55 balls to lift his side to 180 all out. In reply, Gill anchored the chase with a composed 86 off 50 deliveries as GT crossed the line in 19.4 overs.
The win marked GT's third successive victory after opening with two losses, while KKR's search for their first win of the season continues.
