Manjeshwar: In a tragic road accident one person died while two others including a pedestrian sustained critical injuries after a government bus driver lost control over the wheels and hit a two-wheeler rider here in Manjeshwar on Wednesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Lokesh (45), a resident of Kunjattur Mahalingeshwar while his wife Shailaja (41) who was pillion riding with Lokesh sustained injuries along a pedestrian identified as Ravi (45) a resident of Udyawar.

According to the reports, the accident took place around 10 am on Wednesday morning near Sandhya Garage on Manjeshwar National Highway.

Eye witnesses revealed the incident took place when the bus driver in an attempt to avoid collision with Ravi who was crossing the road, steered the bus to the other end and collided with the two-wheeler of Lokesh. All the three including Ravi sustained injuries in the accident and were rushed to local hospital for treatment. Lokesh succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital.

A case has been registered at Manjeshwar Police Station.
