Mangaluru (Karnataka), Jun 3 (PTI): The Mangaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) on Tuesday arrested another person for allegedly conspiring and sheltering the prime accused in rowdy sheeter Suhas Shetty murder case.

Shetty, also a known rowdy sheeter was killed by a group of assailants here last month.

The arrested has been identified as Abdul Razak (59), a resident of Mangaluru. With this, the total number of arrests made in this case stands at 16, police said.

According to police, Razak is the father of Mohammed Muzammil, one of the key accused, and the father-in-law of Nausad Vamanjoor, alias Chotte Nausad, another suspect in the case. He is alleged to have conspired with them and others at his residence to plan the murder and later helped the accused evade arrest.

The investigation into the case is on and efforts are underway to trace other suspects.

Shetty's murder case is being probed by the police as a premeditated act involving multiple conspirators, police added.

Thane (PTI): A 45-year-old man was killed, and his wife and son were injured when a portion of plaster from the ceiling collapsed in their flat in a seven-storey building in Thane on Saturday, officials said.

Chief of the Regional Disaster Management Cell, Yasin Tadvi, said the 16-year-old building is not listed in the "dangerous" category.

"The incident occurred in Karumdev Society at about 3 am. The plaster of the hall in a flat on the terrace floor suddenly fell while the occupants were asleep", he said.

Of the four people who were inside the room, two suffered minor injuries and were discharged after primary treatment, Tadvi stated.

The injured persons were identified as Arpita More (42), who suffered minor head injuries, and her son Arush More (16), who sustained injuries to both legs.

Manoj More (45), who sustained chest injuries, died during treatment at a private hospital.
