Mangaluru: One more Utkrisht rake, equipped with several state-of-the-art passenger-friendly facilities, has been alloted to Mangaluru Central, taking the total number of such rakes with it to six.

With the introduction of the new rake, the Mangaluru Central-Thiruvananthapuram Maveli Express, Mangaluru Central-Chennai Central Mail and Chennai Central- Mangaluru Central Express will operate with Utkrisht coaches daily, a railway release here said.

With the proposed introduction of two more rakes of Utkrisht coaches by September, the services of four more trains from Mangaluru Central will run with these upgraded coaches, the release said.

Utkrisht coaches comprise several state-of-the-art passenger-friendly facilities including polyurethane (PU) painting with a new colour scheme with apricot on the main body and red at the ends, epoxy flooring in toilets, hydrophobic coating in wash basins, double acting doors, LED lighting and digital clock in AC coaches.

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President DK Shivakumar has passed an order suspending Member of the Legislative Council Abdul Jabbar from the primary membership of the party.

Shivakumar, who is also Deputy Chief Minister, has stated in his order that the MLC is to be suspended with immediate effect.

Jabbar is said to have been suspended for his alleged anti-party activities during the by-election to the Davanagere South Assembly constituency.
