Mangaluru, Jan 4: In a gruesome incident, a youth was hacked to death with lethal weapons near Panjimogaru in Kavoor police station here on Thursday.

The victim has been identified as Rakesh (27), son of Yogesh of Urundady.

Rakesh was working as a labourer. When he was returning home on his scooter, he was attacked and hacked to death at 10 pm.

When Rakesh reached Maladies road near Panjimogaru, the miscreants attacked him with lethal weapons. Sustaining severe injuries, he died on the spot.

Police suspected that the attack might have happened due to love affair. Police Commissioner TR Suresh and other senior police officers visited the spot. Sniffer dogs and fingerprint experts were summoned to the spot. Kavoor police registered a case.

Thane (PTI): Authorities have seized illegally stored 1,839 gas cylinders and seven vehicles worth over Rs 67 lakh in the Dombivli MIDC area of Thane district, officials said on Saturday.

A special vigilance team of the Mumbai Rationing Department detected an illegal storage of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders in Phase-2 of Dombivli (East).

Cylinders belonging to multiple gas agencies were found stockpiled in closed vehicles, unauthorised warehouses, and open sheds without mandatory permissions from the Explosives Department, Fire Department, or oil companies, according to an official release.
