Udupi, October 02: Woman and Child Welfare and Kannada and Culture department and District in-charge minister Dr Jayamala on Tuesday faced an embarrassing situation at the party office as her own party workers gheraoed her.
After participating in the ‘Gandhi-150’ programme at the party office, he was speaking to party workers for some time. When she was about to leave the party office, Youth Congress workers gheraoed her and expressed their wrath.
The party workers said that the district minister did not come to their rescue in related to untoward incidents, clash and lathicharge in front of the SP office during Bharat Bandh. They said that the district minister did not listen to their problems.
“When the party workers were caned and admitted to hospital for treatment, the district minister did not listen to their grievances and enquired about their health. Instead of it, the minister has gone to the house of SP, and had food. As party workers, we want justice. So, you should transfer the SP immediately”, the party workers demanded.
Responding to the sudden development, the Minister said that she had spoken to the SP over phone as soon as she came to know about the issue and even she had spoken to the district leaders as well. “Don’t try to threaten me keeping the media people here”, she vented her ire against the party workers and left the place.
Councillor Ramesh Kanchan, workers Vishwas Amin, Manjunath Uppur and others were present on the occasion.
