Mangaluru, November 7: Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil said that following the state government’s notification, the Urban Property Ownership Records –PR Cards were made compulsory in the city corporation limits from December 1.
Speaking to reporters at his office here on Wednesday, the DC said that total 32 revenue villages were divided into six zones and 30 sectors and the survey of total 1,50,635 properties coming under the city corporation was already completed. Of them, records 77,306 properties were already collected and prepared draft PR cards of 31,883 properties and 29,393 draft PR cards were already distributed. Approval was given for another 23,560 cards and 18,491 PR cards were already given to the property owners, he said.
The scheme was started in 2012. Under this scheme, all documents and records related to the property would be scanned in UPOR software and enter the data. After collecting all data, within 30 days after the completion of the process of rights enquiry, fee would be collected from the property owners and PR cards would be issued. If the property owners have any objections over the draft PR Cards, they could submit them with proper documents. Once the PR Card certification is finalized, the UPOR software would be merged with Cauvery software. Since the PR Card is essential for registration of properties, those who have not yet get the property cards should get them immediately, he said.
A separate office was opened near Mangaluru taluk office for this purpose. Along with existing eight surveyors, 12 new surveyors were appointed and five additional surveyors were deputed. Total 60 employees including 10 data entry operators have been working for this. In order to solve any problems, the committee led by him would hold meetings twice in a week, he said.
New website
For this purpose, a new website would start functioning from November 12. All required information would be uploaded in the website. Helpline division would also be opened. Property could be registered through emails, for which a new App would be developed. Home service was available for the physically disabled persons who could not move, the DC said.

Srinagar (PTI): National Conference MP Aga Ruhullah Mehdi on Monday criticised Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for failing to "condemn" the assassination of Iranian Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Mehdi said if Abdullah cannot find the courage to condemn the assassination of Khamenei, his words of concern for the situation in the Gulf country have no value for the people who followed and respected the Supreme leader of Iran.
"While going through Tweets and statements, I found that he is "concerned" and falls short of condemnation, let alone a word of tribute," Mehdi said in a post on X without naming the chief minister.
The Lok Sabha member from Srinagar constituency, who is in an estranged relationship with the ruling National Conference, said if Abdullah does not have the courage to condemn the act of aggression against a sovereign nation, he should keep his concern to himself.
"If you cannot find the courage to condemn an act of aggression against a sovereign nation and assassination of a highly respected religious figure who is widely followed by your electorate and fellow citizens, because the people in power in the centre you are trying to cosy up to will get upset- Keep your "concern" with yourself," Mehdi added.
The chief minister on Sunday said he was deeply concerned about the unfolding developments in Iran, including the killing of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
"I appeal to all communities to remain calm, uphold peace, and avoid any actions that could lead to tension or unrest," he posted on X.
National Conference issued a statement attributed to party president Farooq Abdullah in which he condemned the killing of Khamenei in joint strikes by the US and Israel.
"(Farooq) Abdullah has strongly denounced the act, describing it as a tragic and destabilising development with serious implications for peace and stability in the region," the National Conference said in the statement.
