PU results: Dakshina Kannada ranks second in state, girls outperform boys
Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district has once again secured the second position in the state in the second PUC examinations, recording a significant improvement in overall performance.
The district, which had achieved a pass percentage of 93.57 percent last year, has registered 96.35 percentage this year.
In the Commerce stream, Disha from Alva’s PU College secured a perfect score of 600 marks, sharing the first rank in the state with Aditi A. Bapu of S.B. Mahavir Jain PU College, Bengaluru.
Rachel D’Souza of St Aloysius PU College secured the second rank in the state with 599 marks. Vansha of Maps College scored 598 marks, while Anvita R. of Mulki Narayanguru Composite PU College, Ava Christina Rodrigues of St Aloysius College, KH Aditi Bhushan of Moodbidri Excellent PU College, Riya Faith Saldana of St Aloysius PUC and U Yana Poonamma N.P. of Belthangady Excel PU College secured 597 marks each.
In the Science stream, Princilla Cardoza of The Learning Center (TLC) PU College, Akash Bhavana, secured the first rank in the state with 599 marks.
Abhiram V. Bhat of Vivekananda PU College, Puttur, Dhanush Gutti of New Vibrant PU College, Moodbidri, Meenakshi Unnithan of The Learning Center PU College, Nandan Nayak and Samanyu S. Shetty of Expert PU College, Rakshita Manjunath Sanganapet of Alva’s PU College,and Vaibhavi S. Karkera of Sharda INDP PU College, Kodialbail shared the second rank with 598 marks each.
In the Arts stream, Fatimath Shahla of Sharada Women’s PU College, Sullia, secured 595 marks.
A total of 37,140 students, including repeaters and private candidates, appeared for the examination in the district, of whom 35,190 (94.75 percent) passed. Among first-time candidates, 35,449 students appeared and 34,155 (96.35 percent) cleared the examination.
Girls once again outperformed boys in the district. Of the 18,509 female students who appeared, 17,827 (96.32 percent) passed. Among boys, 18,631 students appeared, of whom 17,363 (93.19 percent) cleared the examination.
Stream-wise, 3,646 candidates appeared in Arts, with 3,126 (85.74 percent) passing. In Commerce, 14,964 students appeared and 13,993 (93.51 percent) passed. In Science, 18,530 students appeared, with 18,071 (97.52 percent) clearing the examination.
Department-wise results for the district in 2025-26 stood at 88.21 percent in Arts, 96.1 percent in Commerce, and 97.99 percent in Science. The pass percentage among urban students was 96.26 per cent, while rural students recorded a slightly higher pass percentage of 96.45 per cent.

Second PUC results: Life convict clears exam with distinction, DGP lauds effort

Bengaluru: A life convict lodged in Ballari Central Prison has successfully cleared the second PUC examination.
Ashok Kumar S, who appeared for the examination under prison escort, secured 481 marks out of 600, registering 80.1 percent.
Director General of Police (Prisons and Correctional Services), Alok Kumar (IPS), shared the development on his official ‘X’ handle, commending the inmate’s achievement.
In his post, he stated that it was heartening to see a life convict score over 80 percent in the examination, adding that the inmate had appeared from Ballari Central Prison under escort.

He further noted that the achievement reflected that the “walls of the prison have not subdued his hopes for a better future.”

The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) declared the second PUC results for 2026 on April 9.
A total of 6,32,200 students appeared for the examination across all streams, of whom 5,46,698 passed, recording an overall pass percentage of 86.48 per cent.
