Moodbidri: Maulana Zubair Khan Nadvi of Jamia Masjid, Jodupalli of Kudroli inaugurated the renovated building of Puthige Noorani Masjid on Friday.

Entrepreneur Mohammad Salim Thokkottu, Musthafa Moodbidri of Bharat Constructions were the chief guests. Hussain Sheikh, honorary president of the Masjid Committee; Bashir Sheikh, vice president of the Committee; Mohammad Khayyum, secretary; and Mushtak Saheb, treasurer, were present on the occasion.

Maulana Zubair Khan Nadvi read the Khutbah during the inaugural and also led the JumaNamaz at the new Masjid.

Imam of the Puthige Masjid Maulana Ziaullah Khan welcomed the gathering and President Abul Ala Puthige proposed the vote of thanks.

Following the inauguration on Friday, the Masjid Committee has organized a ‘Nammoora Masidi Noda Banni’ (Come, See The New Mosque In Our Town) program, inviting locals of all religions and communities to visit and see the newly inaugurated Masjid Building on Sunday, February 26.

The program will commence at 10 am on Sunday. MLA Umanath Kotian, former minister Abhayachandra Jain, Alvas Education Foundation Chairman Dr. M Mohan Alva and editor-in-chief of Varthabharathi Abdussalam Puthige will attend as guests of honour.

Alangar Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple Chief priest Ishwara Bhat; Pakshikere St. Jude Church and Shrine parish priest and director Rev. Fr. Melwyn Noronha and Noorani Masjid Khatib and Imam Maulana Ziaullah Khan will give their messages of harmony, on the occasion.

Palakala Friends’ Club president Ravishankar Bhat, Noorani Masjid general secretary Mohammad Khayyum and Puthige Gram Panchayat member Mohammad Sharief will also be present.

Noorani Masjid president Abul Ala Puthige, who will preside over the function, has invited locals from all communities to attend this special event.

Faridabad (PTI): A student of class 8 here was allegedly sexually assaulted for several days by two of his classmates and a student of class 10, police said on Saturday.

Based on a complaint of the victim's father, police have registered a case against the three juveniles under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Saran Police Station.

According to police, the 12-year-old boy, studying in a government school, was leaving the premises to go home when he was lured by two of his classmates and another student of class 10 to the school bathroom, where they sexually assaulted him.

Following this, the accused students allegedly assaulted him for several days.

The boy's father noticed changes in his son's behaviour and asked him about it. He narrated his ordeal to the father who then approached the police.

Two of the accused students live in the same village as the victim, police said.

A senior police officer said, "We have initiated the necessary legal procedures. Counselling is being provided to the victim, and the entire matter is being investigated seriously. Further action will be taken based on the investigation."
