Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Qazi Shaikhuna Al-Haj Thwaqa Ahmed on Saturday confirmed that the crescent moon for the Islamic month of Rabbi-ul-Awwal was sighted meaning Sunday, October 18 will mark the beginning of the holy month.

October 29, will mark the Rabbi-ul-Awwal 12 which is celebrated as Miladun Nabi.

The information was shared through a press release by Zeenath Baksh masjid and Eidgah Masjid’s General Secretary Haji Mohammed Haneef on Saturday evening.

Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Ashwath Narayan on Friday confirmed that the state government has decided to reopen Degree and Engineerng Colleges in the state from November 17.

He was speaking to media reporters after attending a meeting at the CM’s house office, chaired by Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa to discuss resumption of colleges in the state.

He added that in the first phase Degree, Engineering and Diploma Colleges will be resumed and attendance for the students will not be mandatory. Furthermore, the students will also have an option to attend classes online and not necessarily attend classes physically.
