Chikkamagaluru: Heavy rain continued to lash Chikkamagaluru and surrounding places on Friday, following which schools, colleges have been announced holiday at various places including three taluks.
Heavy rainfall has been reported at Shringeri, Koppa, Kalasa, Kudremukh, Moodigere and other places. People living at riverside are anxious as the Tunga, Bhadra, Hemavati Rivers are flowing above the danger level.
Deputy Commissioner Srirangiah has declared a holiday of all the schools in Sringeri, Koppa and Moodigere taluks in the district today. Holiday has also been given to schools located at riverside in Balehonnur in NR Pura Taluk.
The power supply has been disrupted, and normal life was thrown out of gear in rain-hit Sringeri.

Dubai: Smoke was seen rising from an area near the United States Consulate in Dubai, according to witness accounts cited by Reuters.
There was no immediate official confirmation on the extent of damage or whether there were any casualties in the incident.
Earlier, the US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital, was also attacked. Authorities reported damage to the premises, but no casualties were recorded.
