Girl from north Karnataka raped, one held
Mangaluru, June 21: A 19-year-old girl who came from Kushtagi in North Karnataka for labour work was raped by a person working as a labourer at Paldane in the taluk. The incident came to light when the girl conceived. Now, the Mangaluru rural police arrested the accused Rama alias Dasaiah (38) on Thursday.
The accused was also a resident of Kushtagi and for the last few years, he has been working as a labourer. The family of the girl which came to the city two years ago is also residing at Paldane.
It is alleged that taking advantage of closeness of the girl, Dasaiah raped her and when she conceived, her family members noticed it and lodged a complaint against Dasaiah in Mangaluru rural police station. The police who arrested the accused produced him before the court.

US Consulate in Dubai reportedly attacked
Dubai: Smoke was seen rising from an area near the United States Consulate in Dubai, according to witness accounts cited by Reuters.
There was no immediate official confirmation on the extent of damage or whether there were any casualties in the incident.
Earlier, the US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital, was also attacked. Authorities reported damage to the premises, but no casualties were recorded.
The developments come amid heightened tensions in the region, with Iran continuing to target US interests in the Middle East following deadly attacks launched on Saturday by Israel and the United States.
