Mangaluru: Renowned urologist of the Kasturba Medical College Hospital (KMC) in the city Dr. G.G. Lakshman Prabhu, who had suffered a heart attack earlier, died at the hospital on Friday morning. He was 61.

Dr. Prabhu had suffered the heart attack about a week ago, while on duty at the KMC Hospital, Mangaluru, and was undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU). On Friday morning, however, he passed away, having failed to respond to the treatment.

Dr. Prabhu had worked as a specialist in Urology for 36 years, and was greatly respected for his eye for detail, accuracy of diagnosis and empathetic treatment of patients. He had been elected as secretary (elect) of the Urological Society of India (USI) in 2022.

Bantwal: A 15-year-old boy died after coming into contact with an electric wire in Gadiara village on Saturday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Shaheer, son of Sharif, a resident of Neralakatte.

Shaheer, an SSLC student at Mountain View English Medium School, Puttur, had gone to his grandfather’s house in nearby Gadiara village during the school holidays. He came into contact with an electric wire and died at the scene.

He is survived by his parents, a brother, two sisters, and family members.
