Brahmavara, February 12: In order to alleviate the misconceptions and  propaganda against Islam and Muslims, the district Muslim Okkoota has decided to conduct ‘Satya Mana Manege’ (Truth to mind and home) campaign, said Federation district president Yaseen Malpe.

Speaking at a  dignitaries meet event , organized by the Udupi District Muslim Okkoota at Brahmavara on Tuesday, he said that Masjid presidents and Khatibs should take more interest towards this programme. It was planned to reach over one lakh people by forming teams of five members each from 100 masjids in the district. A delegation of the Federation would meet the Chief Minister and the Congress leaders to conduct grievances meeting for Muslims in the district once in three months and relax the norms for the construction of Madrasas, he said.

Kudroli Jamiya Masjid Khateeb Mufti Abdul Mannan inaugurated the convention in which,   senior vice president of Okkoota Haji Abdulla Parkala released the annual souvenir of the federation. Dr Thaha Matheen of Bengaluru delivered the valedictory address.

Muslim Organisations Federation President and former mayor Ashraf Mangaluru, Uniwef President Rafiuddin Kudroli, industrialist Jaleel Saheb Udyavara, Wakf Advisory Board district president Ibrahim Matapadi, Moulana Ubaidulla Nadvi, Irfan of the Mangaluru Highland Islamic Forum, Anjuman Hami-a Muslimin of Bhatkala  secretary Issac Shabandri, Uttara Kannada Muslim United Forum general secretary Mouseen Kazi, Thirthahalli Muslim Federation president Sulaiman Saheb and others were present.

Let masjids become community centres of development: Yaseen Malpe

Masjids should not restrict themselves only for namaz. Instead, they should become the community centres for social activities. For this purpose, total 30 masjids including six in each taluk would be selected and the teams of the Okkoota would visit those masjids and guide them about the educational, social and economic progress of the community, Yasin Malpe said.

Tehran: Iran has reportedly declared 40 days of public mourning following the killing of the country’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Al Jazeera reported citing Iranian state media.

According to the report, Fars News Agency said the Iranian government has announced 40 days of nationwide mourning in the wake of Khamenei’s killing. The agency also reported that seven days of public holidays have been declared.
