Schools, Colleges in Udupi District to remain closed on August 8
Udupi: District Deputy Commissioner on Thursday evening declared holiday for all schools and colleges in the District on Thursday August 8.
DC Hephsiba Rani Korlapati issued the order declaring holiday to schools and colleges. The order comes in the backdrop of heavy rain Coastal Karnataka is witnessing since Saturday.

Yogish Goudar murder case: Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni, 16 others sentenced to life imprisonment

Bengaluru: A special court for people’s representatives has sentenced Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni and 16 others to life imprisonment in connection with the murder of BJP leader Yogish Goudar.
The verdict was delivered by judge Santhosh Gajanana Bhat. The court had earlier, on Wednesday, held all 17 accused guilty of murdering Goudar, while reserving the quantum of punishment.
On Friday, the court pronounced the sentence, awarding life imprisonment to all the convicted persons in the case.
Yogish Goudar, a BJP member from the Hebballi Zilla Panchayat constituency in Dharwad district, was murdered in 2016.
