Mangaluru: City Police busted a sex racket near Kulashekar, rescued two women and arrested a 25-year-old man from Mandya, who was allegedly involved in running the flesh trade.

The officers of Mangaluru (East Division) Police Station were tipped off recently that a network was working from an apartment situated near Kulashekar.A police investigation team raided the place and rescued two women there.

They have arrested Lakkappa (25), a native of Mandya district, who allegedly ran the sex racket in a rented flat, said the police officers. Krishna, who had rented the flat, has been accused of abetting Lakkappa in running the racket.

Lakkappa has been presented before court, said the police, adding that the matter is being investigated further to find Krishna and the other accused in the case.

Hazaribag (PTI): Four people were killed after their SUV rammed into a truck in Jharkhand's Hazaribag district on Saturday, police said.

The accident happened around 6 pm on NH-2 in Danua Valley in the Chouparan police station area, they said.

"The accident happened due to speeding and the SUV driver's attempt to overtake the truck, during which he lost control of the vehicle," said Saroj Kumar Singh, the officer-in-charge of the Chouparan police station.

The deceased are yet to be identified, he said, adding that the car has a Dhanbad registration.

Singh said the impact of the collision was such that the SUV was badly damaged.

"The bodies of the victims were retrieved from the vehicle and sent for post-mortem examination," he said.
