Sexual harassment to school boys: Scribe held under POCSO Act

Kundapura, November 28: Byndoor police on Wednesday arrested a journalist from Kundapura under POCSO Act on charges of sexually abusing the boys.

The arrested has been identified as Chandra K Hemmadi (40) of Hemmadi near Kundapura. Under the pretext of showing the road, he took a boy to the forest and sexually harassed him. Later, the victim has gone home and informed his father. Based on a complaint lodged by his father, the police arrested the accused.

During investigation, the police found that he has sexually abused more than 10 boys in the last five-six years. He has been working as a reporter in a newspaper at Hemmadi. He was married two years ago and has a son.

Police said that they would identify the students who were abused sexually by him and make them to undergo counseling to get more details on the accused and book more cases. It is said that the police may produce the accused before the court either today night or tomorrow morning. Byndoor police registered a case.
