Mangaluru, Nov. 13: The Shepherds' International Academy, Attavar, Mangaluru organized their Annual Sports Day event at Mangala Stadium on November 12, Saturday.
The Chief Guest of the event, A.S. Venkatesh, the Chairman of the Karavali Credit Co-operative Society, Attavar, and the Treasurer of Dakshina Kannada Dist. Badminton Association inaugurated the Sports day event by releasing colourful balloons in the air.
The program began with a prayer led by the school head boy master Ahsan Hassan and the school pledge recital by the head girl Numa. The academy’s teacher Shahinaz delivered the welcome address.
The head boy and the Head girl along with Principal Lubna Banu escorted the Chief Guest and the dignitaries to the flag post to hoist the school flag. The two school teams titled Capella and Sirius conducted a striking March past during the sports meet.
Several sports & games events were conducted for the Montessori students. Track and field 100 meters & 50 meters races also were conducted for the graders. The relay was the highlight of the day. The school’s Team Sirius won 1st place in March past and Team Capella was the runners-up. However, the overall Championship Trophy was bagged by Team Capella.
Eleven students were felicitated for their victorious performance in the KUMITE sector in the recently held 1st Invitational National Level Karate Championship organized by KEN-E-MABUNI-SHITO-RYU-KARATE SCHOOL OF INDIA at Udupi.
Medals and certificates were distributed to the winners by the Chief Guest A.S. Venkatesh, Trustees Naushad AK, Mohammed Rizwan, Guest of honour Thasleem, and principal Lubna Banu. The Chief Guest handed over the trophies and certificates to the winners issued by the organizers.
The sports event was convened by teachers Sumayya Shaikh, and Sabha Sulthana.

Vitla: Vitla Sub-inspector Ramakrishna has seized a vehicle that was allegedly transporting cattle illegally at Karai of Kolnadu village in Bantwal taluk. Two men in the vehicle, identified as Naveen and Chethan of Mandya, have reportedly been subjected to police questioning.
Police sources have said that the SI saw a vehicle transporting two cows and parked by the road. When he questioned the driver Naveen and Chethan, who were in the vehicle, about the cattle, he was told by the duo that the cows belonged to one Shankar, a resident of Channarayapatna. The men also told the SI that Shankar was supplying the cattle to a man in Salettur, identified as Shafi, allegedly for beef production.
Further, Naveen and Chethan confessed before the officer that they had gotten the cattle transport permit in others’ names, the sources have added.
