Mangaluru(Press release): In a felicitation event organized by the Shepherds International Academy, State Level Karate winners and the best performing staff were honoured with awards and other prizes on Monday, September 19, at the IDS Arena in Attavar. Out of the 29 students from the academy who participated in the recently held State level Karate championship, 23 students bagged various medals.
The winners and participants were congratulated by the school Management during the felicitation event and also rewarded with attractive prizes. Dr. Pradeep G. Kini, Professor and Associate Director at Manipal Academy for Higher Education presided over the event as the Chief Guest. Managing Director of Akolite Ply Abdul Razak, Chairman of the School Ar. Mohammed Nissar, Trustees Naushad A.K. and Mohammed Rizwan, HR Director Dr. Nafeesa Shareen, Principal Lubna Banu, CAO Hasan Yusuf, Karate Trainers Mohammed Nadeem, and Zakiya Yasmeen attended the event.
Three of the academy’s staff were awarded Gift Vouchers from AppleMart during the event. Fathima Shahinaz was presented with the title and award for ‘Teacher of the Month, August’, Sunitha Shetty received the title and award for ‘Employee of the Month, August’, and Saba Sulthana received the prize as the Winner of the School Poem Competition for Teachers. In appreciation of the efforts put forth by the Karate Trainers Mohammed Nadeem and Zakiya Yasmeen, the Academy honoured them with gifts during the event.
Chief Guests and the School Management applauded the winning performance by the students and the staff. The principal appreciated the combined efforts of the teachers. Principal Lubna Banu and Sumyya Farheen co-ordinated the program. Rubina Sattar welcomed the gathering and Sajida Fatima announced the names of the winners.

Ghaziabad(UP) (PTI): A 48-year-old woman was killed allegedly by her tenants when she went to their flat to collect rent, police said on Thursday.
The deceased, identified as Deepshikha Sharma, was killed around 11 pm at Aura Chimera Society, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Nandgram Upasna Pandey said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Deepshikha and her husband, Umesh Sharma, owned two flats in the society, one of which had been rented out to a couple.
She went to the rented flat to collect rent but did not return till late night, raising suspicion.
Her maid, along with neighbours, went to the flat to look for her, following which Deepshikha's body was recovered stuffed inside a red bag from the flat, the ACP said.
Police were informed at around 11.15 pm through the PRV, after which a team reached the spot and arrested the couple, identified as Ajay Gupta (35) and Akriti Gupta (33), she said.
A case was registered and the body was sent for post-mortem examination. Further investigation is underway, the ACP added.
