Uppinangadi, July 15: The Shiradi Ghat road of Mangaluru-Bengaluru national highway which was closed for almost five months for its repair, is open for vehicular movement from today.
In the second stage, total 12.38 km long road from Kempuhole to Addahole was developed as a concrete road for 8.50 mts width and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel inaugurated the road at Dundya on Sunday.
Ministers HD Revanna and UT Khader, MLAs Sanjeeva Matandoor, Harish Poonja, Rajesh Naik, HK Kumaraswamy, Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat president Meenakshi Shantigodu, former minister B Ramanath Rai and others were present.
The road was developed at a cost of Rs 74 crore. In order to develop the road, the traffic movement was banned on this road since January. As the road is inaugurated today, the motorists would enjoy the driving on the road.

Dubai: Smoke was seen rising from an area near the United States Consulate in Dubai, according to witness accounts cited by Reuters.
There was no immediate official confirmation on the extent of damage or whether there were any casualties in the incident.
Earlier, the US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital, was also attacked. Authorities reported damage to the premises, but no casualties were recorded.
The developments come amid heightened tensions in the region, with Iran continuing to target US interests in the Middle East following deadly attacks launched on Saturday by Israel and the United States.
