Udupi, July 19: “Shiroor Swamiji had come out of the Puritanism. He was loving the poor without considering their castes. I suspect he might have faced this problem because of this reason. So, the government and the district administration should intervene in the issue and order a high level probe into the death of the swamiji”, said Esha Vittala Swamiji of Kemaru Sandipani Ashram.
Speaking to reporters near KMC hospital at Manipal on Thursday, the swamiji said that the swamiji was not depressed to commit suicide. He did not have any apprehension over the CD incident telecast in the media. He did not consider the issue seriously. Normally, the swamiji was not consuming solid food. He was taking only juice. If there was poison in the food, a comprehensive investigation should be conducted about who has brought it and how, the Kemaru swamiji demanded.
He was weeping for his Presiding Deity and he was murmuring during the sleep that he wanted Anna Vittala. But he had the confidence of getting justice through legal fight. Even his advocates had also assured it, he said.
“We thought that the handing over of Presiding Deity would be solved through compromise. Otherwise, we would have moved the court around one and half month before. The swamiji had spoken to me about this just five days ago. We have discussed it with advocate Ravikiran Murudeshwar. Later, we have decided to file a case on July 25. He was not in dying condition”, the swamiji said.
Preparations were on to anoint successor!
Shiroor Swamiji had prepared to anoint his successor around five years ago. He had decided to take his disciple soon after Chaturmasya. The swamiji had decided five years back to take Prashanth from Bengaluru as his successor and the family members of Prashanth had also agreed. Being an educated, Prashanth was visiting Shiroor Mutt very often. The swamiji had decided to anoint Prashanth as his successor after Chaturmasya. But it was not disclosed with other swamijis of Ashta mutts. He discussed it with a few of his known circle. But it was a closed chapter, the Kemaru swamiji said.

Karwar: Uttara Kannada police have cracked a murder case in which a Belagavi youth was killed and his body burnt inside a car to make it appear like a road accident.
Addressing a press meet in the city, Superintendent of Police Deepan M.N. said three accused from Old Hubballi have been arrested in connection with the case. The crime was a pre-planned act driven by personal enmity, he said.
The case came to light on April 8 morning when a car (KA-04/MJ-8996) was found completely burnt in a roadside ditch near Talekumbri bus stand in Yellapur. Only charred human remains were found inside the vehicle. Initially, it was suspected to be an accident caused by overspeeding, and a case was registered at Yellapur police station based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s father, Jagannath Dhapale.
However, the father later expressed suspicion that his son’s death was not accidental, prompting a detailed investigation.
Taking the matter seriously, two special teams were formed under the leadership of Yellapur Inspector Ramesh Hanapur. On analysing technical evidence and CCTV footage, police found that it was a planned murder.
The accused have been identified as Abdul Raheem Basheer Ahmed Mujawar (32), Maulasab Bavahan Wada (36) and Dadapeer alias Aftab Mehboob Saab Balasangi (22), all chicken traders from Old Hubballi.
Police have seized the car used in the crime along with two scooters. The accused have been remanded to judicial custody.
Investigations revealed that the accused killed Nitesh Dhapale due to personal enmity and later set the car on fire along with the body to project it as an accident.
SP Deepan M.N. appreciated the efforts of Inspector Ramesh Hanapur, PSIs Rajashekhar Vandali and Siddappa Gudi, and the entire team for solving the complex case.
