Mangaluru: SKSSF District Committee on Tuesday demanded a public apology from SDPI leader for allegedly criticising religious scholars for political gains.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday at the Mangaluru Press Club here, SKSSF Secretary Abdul Khader said that SKSSF is a religious organisation and keeps itself away from politics. “Recently the SDPI who is opting for caste polarization ahead of the Lok Sabha Election, had criticised Muslim Scholars and has portrayed discriminatedly. They have also criticised Shariat related matters” he said.

“SKSSF wants to maintain communal harmony and strongly condemns such caste based politics. SDPI speaks as if they represent the community” he further added.

“The SKSSF has time and again worked towards maintaining communal harmony and for protecting the religious interests in the region under the leadership of various religious scholars who takes timely decision for the betterment of the religion. The SDPI on the other hand has been trying to take control over the religion and its matters. Shariat cannot be an agenda for the elections”.

“Let the politicians do politics there are religious scholars to take care if the religion. If politicians try to interfere in our religion, we know how to put them at their right places. We demand public apology from SDPI leaders for their interference in religious matters. We will take further decision in this regard later” Khader said.

SKSSSF District President Kasim Darimi, General Secretary Ismail Yamani, Arif Badaqabailu and Syed Basha Tangal were also present at the press meet.

New Delhi (PTI): Half of the staff of Delhi government offices will work from home in view of the pollution levels in the city, Environment minister Gopal Rai said on Wednesday.

In a post on X, Rai said that 50 per cent of the staff in government offices will work from home. Implementation of the provision will be discussed in a meeting with the officers later in the day, he said.

Earlier, the government announced staggered office timings for its offices and the MCD.

The timings of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) offices were fixed from 8.30 am to 5 pm, while that of Delhi government offices were 10 am to 6.30 pm.
