Kalaburagi: A case of suspected suicide due to debts was reported from Huligera village, where a 24-year-old farmer allegedly hanged himself on Thursday night, reportedly unable to repay borrowed money.

The young farmer, identified as Prakash Ravindra Jamdar, was a resident of Huligera village, situated within the jurisdiction of Kalagi Police Station.

On Thursday, when Prakash had not returned home from his fields by 9 pm, his family grew worried and went looking for him. His body was found hanging from a tree in his fields, located on the road to Hippargi village.

Sources have said that Prakash had taken a loan of Rs 80,000 from Ratkal Bank and Rs 5 lakh from private lenders but had been struggling to repay the loans after his crops failed. He is suspected to have taken his life due to his inability to clear the debts.
