Students of St Joseph Engineering College Secure 3 Ranks at University Level
Mangaluru: Continuing the tradition of bagging university ranks, the students of St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, have brought laurels to the college yet again, by securing Three Ranks in the University Examinations conducted by Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, for the academic year 2020-21.
Sheik Mohammad Zunain secured the Fourth Rank in Civil Engineering by scoring a CGPA of 9.46 in his Bachelor of Engineering studies. Alongside him, Varun M, secured Ninth Rank in Mechanical Engineering with a CGPA of 9.35.
In the Postgraduate category, Sushmitha secured the Eight Rank in Master of Computer Applications (MCA) by scoring a CGPA of 9.18.
The meritorious students will be awarded their degrees from His Excellency Thawar Chand Gehlot, the Governor of Karnataka and the Chancellor of the University, during the 21st Annual Convocation of the VTU to be held at Belagavi.
St Joseph Engineering College is proud of its students who have put in a spectacular performance. Waste disposal unit, machinery in Brahmavar destroyed in fire accident
Udupi: A major fire accident occurred at the Solid and Liquid Resource Management (SLRM) unit of the Varamballi Panchayat in Brahmavar taluk in the pre-dawn hours of Saturday, gutting the unit.
The fire broke out at the unit a couple of hours after midnight on Friday with a vehicle used by the unit for waste disposal exploding due to the fire at around 3 am on Saturday.
Fire and Emergency Services squads were called in from Malpe, Udupi and Kundapur. The personnel succeeded in dousing the flames with the help of the locals.
The entire waste disposal unit, however, is learned to be gutted, with the machines and other equipment being destroyed by the flames.
