Surathkal: Miscreants attempt to kill youth, complaint lodged
Mangaluru, Jan 3: A team of miscreants allegedly attempted to kill a youth with lethal weapons at Surathkal on the outskirts of the city on Thursday.
The victim has been identified as Sandesh (35) of Krishnapura 5th Block. It is said that the miscreants led by Ranjith of the same village attacked him.
Sandesh has been working as the bus driver. On Thursday morning, he was speaking to his friends near Yuvaka Mandali at 5th Block of Krishnapura.
At this time, three accused including Ranjith attacked Sandesh, who escaped unhurt. Later, the accused fled the scene.
Old enmity
Ranjith and Sandesh were friends. But they quarreled each other related to marriage issue of their relatives. Now, in a complaint, Sandesh alleged that Ranjith and his friends attacked him due to old enmity. Attempt to murder case was registered at Surathkal police station and the police have been investigating it.

At least three dead, 58 injured in UAE since start of Iranian missile strikes
Abu Dhabi: At least three people have been killed and 58 others injured in the United Arab Emirates since Iran began its retaliatory missile campaign in the Gulf following US and Israeli attacks, authorities said.
In a statement, the UAE’s Defence Ministry said the country detected 165 ballistic missiles, of which 152 were destroyed. It also said two cruise missiles were intercepted.
The ministry added that a total of 541 Iranian drones were detected, and 506 of them were intercepted and destroyed.
According to the statement, the attacks resulted in the deaths of three individuals – one each from Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh.
Further details about the condition of the injured were not immediately available.
