Mangaluru: Toll gate protest committee on Tuesday morning staged protest at the NITK toll gate against its decision to charge local vehicles at the toll gate citing losses.
The protesters gathered at the toll gate early in the morning and expressed their anguish over the decision.
Speaking on the occasion, Muneer Katipalla Convener of the protesting committee added that the local residents were relieved after the decision was put on hold until further notice with the interference of District in-charge minister U T Khader and lauded the latter’s efforts in this regard.
“Nalin Kumar Kateel and MLA Bharat Shetty should also step in the matter like U T Khader and help us to stop this loot in the name of toll collection” Muneer added.
Former minister Abhaychandra Jain, Vijay Kumar Shetty, Youth Congress leader Mithun Rai, B K Imtiyaz, Harish Putran and others were present at the protest.

Ahmedabad (PTI): Shubman Gill led from the front with a classy 86 as Gujarat Titans defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by five wickets in an Indian Premier League match here on Friday.
Earlier, KKR all-rounder Cameron Green produced a fighting 79 off 55 balls to lift his side to 180 all out. In reply, Gill anchored the chase with a composed 86 off 50 deliveries as GT crossed the line in 19.4 overs.
The win marked GT's third successive victory after opening with two losses, while KKR's search for their first win of the season continues.
