Three arrested men found under influence of ganja; Puttur police file case
Puttur: The Town Police filed a case on Wednesday against three men who had been held at various places for inappropriate behavior and, on investigation, were found to have been under the influence of narcotics on the occasions.
The arrested men are identified to be B Umar Farooq (36) and Kalandar Shah (41), of Kasba in Puttur town and K Mohiuddin (43), a resident of Mukkacheri Ullal in Mangaluru taluk.

Shah was arrested near the private bus stand at Nellikatte in Puttur town, while Farooq and Mohiuddin were held near the Puttur Town Hall. All three of them were made to undergo medical tests, with the reports revealing that they had all consumed marijuana (ganja).
A case has been registered at the Puttur Town Police Station and investigation of the matter is underway.

CPI leader attends RSS-organised Hindu meet, district unit seeks clarification
Manjeshwar: The participation of a CPI leader in a Hindu convention organised by the RSS has triggered discussion in political circles.
Sundari Shetty, former president of Meenja panchayat and a district committee member of the CPI in Kasaragod, attended the Hindu gathering held in Meenja. She offered floral tribute to a portrait of Bharat Mata and also addressed the gathering from the stage, which has led to controversy.
Following the development, the CPI district unit has issued a notice to Sundari Shetty seeking an explanation. Party sources said that the presence of a senior leader of a party that follows communist ideology at a Hindu convention has caused unease within the party.
There are indications that disciplinary action may be initiated against her in connection with the incident.
