Byndoor, Jan 21: Police succeeded in arresting five accused on charges of throwing pork pieces into the Nagoor Noor Jamia Juma Masjid near Kirimanjeshwara to disturb the peace and create communal clash.
The arrested have been identified as Ravichandra (43), his father Nagaraj (72) of Uppunda, Naveen Kharvi (25) of Thondemakki, Sridhar Kharvi (22) and Raghavendra Kharvi of Ammannavar Thoppalu.
On January 14 at 10.55 pm, two motorcycle borne youth threw pork pieces into the premises of the Masjid and fled the scene. The incident came to light on Jan 15 at 5.39 am. The entire incident recorded in the CCTV camera. A case was registered at Byndoor police station.
Sap Lakshman Nimbargi had formed a team led by ASP Kumarachandra. Kundapura DySP Dinesh Kumar, Byndoor circle inspector Parameshwar R Gunaga, Byndoor PSI Thimmesh BN and staff participated in the operation.
It is said that Ravichandra of uppunda was a main accused in the case and he has committed the crime to create communal clash. He has involved in various cases like bike thefts and became rowdy sheeter, police said.
Police personnel Santosh Kumar, Santosh Kharvi, Sridhar, Nagaraj Kharvi, Prince Shirura, Ramesh Kulal, Krishna Devadiga, Mohan Poojary, Chandrashekhar, Nagendra and Shivananda participated in the operation. SP Lakshman Nimbargi announced Rs 10,000 cash prize to the police personnel.

New Delhi (PTI): At least 100 international flights have been cancelled at the Delhi airport on Sunday as airlines grapple with operational disruptions due to the Middle East crisis.
A source said 60 international departures and 40 arrivals have been cancelled.
"Due to the evolving political situation in the Middle East, west-bound international flights may experience disruptions or schedule changes," DIAL said in a post on X.
Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) operates the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in the national capital. It is also the country's largest airport, handling more than 1,300 flight movements daily.
Earlier, the Civil Aviation Ministry said 444 international flights are expected to be cancelled by domestic carriers on Sunday.
