Mangaluru: Mangaluru experienced heavy rain accompanied by thunder, lightning, and strong winds in various parts of the city and its outskirts this morning.

The downpour occurred between 4 and 5:30 am, resulting in trees falling, blocking roads in rural areas and leading to traffic problems. Some areas also experienced damage to electricity poles, causing power outages. Electricity supply has been disrupted in parts of Mangalore city since early morning.

The Meteorological Department has issued a statement predicting thundershowers with strong winds in Dakshina Kannada, Chikkamagaluru, Davanagere, Hassan, Kodagu, Shimoga, Tumkur, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada districts in the next 24 hours.

Dubai: Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms have struck the United Arab Emirates (UAE) once again, leading to the cancellation of flights and the closure of schools and offices. Parks and beaches are off-limits, and several airlines are experiencing delays and disruptions due to the inclement weather.

The UAE's Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Friday as heavy rains and thunderstorms persist throughout the week.

In response to the adverse weather conditions, authorities have advised people and students to work and study from home. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has directed all private schools, nurseries, and universities to switch to distance learning. Dubai's government has also implemented work-from-home arrangements for employees on May 2nd and 3rd, while parks and beaches remain closed.
