Mangaluru: Under the ongoing 'Drugs Free Mangalore' initiative by the Mangalore CCB police, two individuals were arrested for the sale of MDMA in the city, with the recovery of narcotics and a substantial amount of cash.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Nawaz (40) from Macchampadi near Manjeshwar and Azharuddin, also known as Azhar (38), from Farangipete in Pudu village.
Acting on a tip-off about drug transactions in the Kadri Park area, the police conducted a raid leading to the arrest of Nawaz and Azhar. Valuable MDMA weighing 120 grams, with an estimated worth of Rs. 6 lakhs, was confiscated during the operation. Additionally, the police seized three mobile phones, a digital weight scale, and a scooter.
The total estimated value of the seized items is Rs 6,83,120. A case has been registered against the accused at CEN Crime Police Station. It is noteworthy that both individuals have a history of involvement in criminal activities, with previous cases registered against them, including drug-related offenses, dowry harassment, and theft.

South African veteran Faf du Plessis and West Indies' Rovman Powell were bought for Rs two crore and Rs 1.50 crore by Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders respectively, but seasoned India batter Ajinkya Rahane went unsold.
The unsold players can find buyers later in the day during the accelerated auction if their names are given by the franchises.
