Malpe, Sep 25: Two college students got drowned and another went missing off Udupi district on Sunday, police said.

The incident took place at around 6 PM on the beach when the students, studying in a private engineering college, ventured into the sea for a swim. They were washed away by the high waves, local people said.

Hoode beach is not normally frequented by visitors like the other beaches in the district. The three students were part of a 15-member group of students who went to the beach, the police said.

The bodies of two students, said to be from Bengaluru and Hyderabad, have been recovered. The deceased have been identified as Nishant(21) and Shanmuga(21).

Search is underway to find the missing student Shrikar(21) with the help of local expert swimmers, the police said.

Jaipur (PTI): Three men were killed and another injured after a car overturned on Mandrella Road in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu on Sunday, police said.

The accident occurred when a stray animal came in front of the moving car, due to which the driver lost control over the vehicle, they said.

"The vehicle overturned, jumped several metres and fell into a farm. Three men travelling in the car died on the spot, while one was critically injured," the police said.

The deceased were identified as Vijay, Gaurav and Sunil, all residents of Jhunjhunu. The injured, Jitendra, was given primary treatment and later referred to Jaipur in a critical condition.

The police said the victims were returning from a bhajan programme in Sonasar.
