Udupi: Case registered against Congress leaders for protesting without permission
Udupi: The Udupi city police have registered a case against Congress leaders who staged a protest without permission outside the Congress Bhavan in Brahmmagiri on March 14 at 9 pm, when the Model Code of Conduct had come into force.
Udupi District Youth Congress President Vishwas Ameen, district Vice President Prakhyat Shetty, district president of backward communities unit Yateesh Karkera, Youth Congress leader Imran and others protested against the party's decision to cede the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency to JDS and condemn the same.
It has been learnt that Inspector Ravi NN has registered a suo motu case against the Congress leaders.

Nine killed, 25 injured as state transport bus overturns in Maharashtra's Gondia district
Gondia (PTI): At least nine passengers were killed and 25 others injured when a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus overturned in Gondia district on Friday afternoon, police said.
Citing preliminary information, a senior police official said the MSRTC bus 'Shiv Shahi' was carrying 36 passengers and heading to Gondia district from Bhandara when it flipped over at Davva village under Sadakarjuni taluka while trying to overtake another vehicle.
Nine passengers were killed and 25 others injured in the accident which took place at around 12.30 pm, he said.
The injured passengers were shifted to hospital, the official added.
