Udupi court sends Mahesh Shetty Timarodi to two-hour police custody for interrogation
Udupi: The Udupi Additional Civil Judge and First Class Judicial Magistrate’s Court on Saturday ordered that Mahesh Shetty Timarodi be handed over to police custody for two hours for interrogation.
Timarodi was arrested in connection with his alleged derogatory remarks against BJP National General Secretary B.L. Santhosh. The Brahmavar police had moved an application seeking his custody for questioning.
Following the plea, Judge Nagesh directed the authorities to produce Timarodi before the court within an hour. Accordingly, he was brought from Hiriyadka Jail under tight security and presented before the court around 1:30 pm.
After hearing the matter, the court granted police custody till 3:40 pm and instructed that Timarodi be produced before the court again at that time. The police subsequently took him for interrogation.

Former Assam Cong chief Bhupen Borah joins BJP
Guwahati (PTI): Former Assam Congress chief Bhupen Kumar Borah on Sunday joined the ruling BJP in the presence of its state unit president Dilip Saikia here.
Borah became a BJP member during a function held at the Assam BJP headquarters 'Vajpayee Bhawan'.
Along with him, former Congress worker Sanju Bora, too, joined the saffron party.
Borah had resigned on February 16, with the Congress high command not accepting it and senior leaders rushing to his residence, while Rahul Gandhi also spoke to him.
He had asked for time to reconsider his decision, but the next day, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma went to his residence and announced that he would join the BJP on February 22.
The 126-member Assam assembly is expected to go to polls in March-April.
