Udupi: The Indian Medical Association’s nationwide strike to protest against the Central Government’s National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill evoked a positive response in Udupi.

Most of the doctors and hospitals have supported the strike by shutting down the OPDs. However, emergency services are being continued. But the outpatient wing of the KMC Hospital in Manipal has reportedly been operating as usual.

Udupi district has 25 hospitals and 600 doctors. The strike will be in force until 6 pm. Later, the OPDs would resume their services as usual,” Dr. YS Rao, IMA Udupi president said.
