Udupi: Amidst growing coronavirus scare, another youth with suspected coronavirus symptoms has been admitted at Udupi District Hospital on Friday evening here.

A 37-year-old youth, a native of Shirwa, works in a Japanese ship and he was onboard a Japanese vessel that was recently blocked due to the coronavirus. However, he was left out on its way to Dubai, when he was diagnosed with coronavirus infection and he returned to his native. District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. Sudhir Chandrachud said.

However, he did not show any of the primary symptoms of coronavirus, such as cough, cold, fever, but he is suffering from diarrhea and abdominal pain with slight respiratory problems following which he has been admitted to an isolated ward in the district hospital here this evening. His blood samples and throat swab have been sent to the Shimoga laboratory for testing, sources in the health department said.

New Delhi (PTI): Air India Express has issued termination letters to around 25 cabin crew members who reported sick that led to the cancellation of more than 90 flights, airline sources said on Thursday.

The Tata Group-owned airline has also given an ultimatum to the remaining cabin crew members reporting sick to join back duty by 4 pm on Thursday or face termination, they added.

Air India Express has also cancelled at least 60 flights for Thursday due to the non-availability of cabin crew, the sources said and added that mass leaves by a section of the cabin crew have caused immense inconvenience to passengers.

There are around 1,400 cabin crew, including about 500 at the senior level, at the airline.

Over 200 cabin crew started reporting sick from Tuesday night to protest against alleged mismanagement at the airline that caused the cancellation of over 90 flights.
