Udupi: On Jan. 19, around 11 pm, there was a commotion among the bus crew regarding the timing of city buses on the occasion of the Paryaaya Mahotsava, in which three people were injured due to stabbing. A complaint has been filed in Udupi City Police Station regarding this.

City bus drivers Santosh Kumar (30) of Rajeevnagar, Nittur and Shishir Palan (31) of Thottam Badanidiyur were on their way home after work on their scooter when Sudeep, Burhan, Shahrukh and Tanvir came in a rickshaw in front of Bannanje Naveen Garage in Udupi and attacked Santosh and Shishir with knives and beer bottles. It has been alleged that they tried to commit murder.

A case has been registered in the Udupi City police station as per the complaint filed by Santosh Kumar that the accused assaulted him because of his complaint regarding the dispute between the TMT and JMT buses on the night of January 17.

Counter Complaint: It is alleged in the complaint that a City bus driver Muhammad Burhan (29) of Malpe Balarama Nagar was going to Bannanje Jayalakshmi silk shop in an auto rickshaw along with Satish and Sudeep when 4-5 bikers Shishir, Ganesh, Vikyat, Santu, Chetu, Sarath and others blocked the rickshaw and hit them with their hands and tried to kill them by stabbing them with a knife and beer bottle.

On the night of January 17, there was an altercation between the staff of TMT and JMT buses at the city bus stand regarding Udupi's Paryaaya Mahotsava.

Srinagar (PTI): Property worth Rs 1 crore belonging to a notorious drug peddler was on Saturday attached in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar, police said.

A double-storey house on eight marlas of land situated at Wantpora Eidgah, belonging to Basit Bilal Dar, a notorious drug peddler, valued at approximately Rs 1 crore, a police spokesperson said.

He said Dar is involved in two cases registered under various sections of the NDPS Act.

During investigation, it was established that the accused had acquired the said property through illicit proceeds generated from drug trafficking activities, the spokesperson said.

Consequently, the property was attached under the provisions of the NDPS Act. The attachment proceedings were conducted in the presence of the two independent witnesses, strictly in accordance with the prescribed legal procedures, he said.

As per the attachment order, the owner has been restrained from selling, leasing, transferring, altering, or creating any third-party interest in the property till further orders, the spokesperson added.
