Mangaluru, June 24: Miscreants who came in three motorbikes allegedly assaulted a person at Vamanjoor in the city on Sunday.
The victim is identified as Khalid Ulaibettu (52) of Vamanjuru who has been running a scrap business shop for the last 30 years. At a time when he was going home in his car after closing the shop, a team of six persons came in motor bikes and assaulted him. Khalid said that one person called Raifi Hanief (20) had asked him as to why he did not come to jail to see him and not paying the hafta. When protested, they assaulted him, hit him on his head with bottles and his car was also damaged, he said in a complaint. Now, he is undergoing a treatment at a private hospital. But the police who registered a case did not divulge any information.

Dubai: Smoke was seen rising from an area near the United States Consulate in Dubai, according to witness accounts cited by Reuters.

Earlier, the US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital, was also attacked. Authorities reported damage to the premises, but no casualties were recorded.
