Bantwal, August 10: Due to heavy rains in Western Ghats range, the Netravati River was overflowing inundating the agriculture land in the taluk.  But on Friday, the water level has decreased. The Netravati River which was flowing above danger mark has come down.

Following heavy rains in the western ghats range for the last couple of days, the water level in the river was increased suddenly. It was flowing above danger level due to which the water gushed into houses and submerged the roads in the taluk throwing the normal life out of gear.

Now, the flood level was decreased. Around 7 mts of water level is being maintained in Thumbay vented dam and additional water is being released to the river. Though the water level in the river has come down, the taluk has been receiving heavy rains since Friday morning.
