Mangaluru: A WhatsApp forward message has caused panic among the people of Mangaluru and Coastal Karnataka as it claims that Mangaluru International Airport has been closed down for operations for two days.

The undated message also warns people for reconsidering their flying plans if they had booked tickets for next two days.

The message comes a day after a Air India Express Flight skidded off the run away after landing causing temporary halting of the operations of the airport which resumed later on same day (Sunday).

However the Airport sources informed Vartha Bharati denied any such reports and added that the Airport is running as usual and on schedule without any delays or inconveniences to the passengers.

Tiruchirappalli (PTI): A Bengaluru bound Air India Express flight with about 137 passengers made an "emergency landing," here following a technical glitch, sources at the airport said.

The Thiruvananthapuram-Bengaluru service suffered the glitch mid-air, following which it made the safe landing here, the sources added.

All the passengers disembarked the flight and the technical crew was attending to the fault.

An Air India Express spokesperson said the flight "was diverted to Tiruchirappalli due to a technical issue."

"A replacement aircraft is being organised to operate the flight to Bengaluru. We are providing all administrative arrangements and regret the inconvenience caused to the travel schedule (of passengers)," the spokesperson added.
