Mangaluru, October 16: Saying that he was unhappy over the issues raised on the proposal to develop Kudroli slaughter house under the Smart City Project, Urban Development and Housing Minister UT Khader said that he would write to the Prime Minister and the Union Urban Development Minister explaining the proposal.
Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, the Minister said that as part of the development of the city, he has proposed to develop Kudroli slaughter house at a cost of Rs 15 crore and he had discussed the issue in the Smart City Project Advisory Board meeting. The proposal was approved in the meeting and sent the proposal for the approval of the Ministry of Urban Development. Amidst this development, opposition leaders have been opposing the proposal and making false accusations, he said.
It was just a proposal in order to ensure hygienic meat in the slaughterhouse. It has to be approved by the Union Government. But the opposition party leaders have been creating confusion among people about the issue. So, he has decided to write to the Prime Minister and the Union Urban Development Minister explaining in detail about the proposal. Let the central government decide on giving approval to it. He would also explain about the funds being given to gaushala. Based on the response from the Prime Minister and the Union Minister, he would take a decision, Khader said.
During Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy’s recent visit to Mangaluru, he had appealed him to conduct Janata Darshan in the district and he has agreed to it, he said.

Bengaluru (PTI): A 27-year-old techie allegedly died by suicide by hanging herself in her room at her residence here, reportedly distressed over an astrologer's prediction about her marriage, police said on Monday.
The incident occurred on Friday at MEI Layout in Bagalagunte, they said.
The deceased, identified as Vidyajyoti, was in a relationship with a man from another caste. Both families had agreed to the marriage as per her wishes, police said.
Citing a preliminary inquiry, a senior police officer said her parents had recently consulted an astrologer, who allegedly predicted that there could be misunderstandings between the couple two years into the marriage, possibly leading to separation.
To avert this, the astrologer reportedly advised performing a nine-day ritual, which the family undertook, he said.
However, on the ninth day of the ritual, Vidyajyoti allegedly went to her room and died by suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan when her parents were not home, he added.
The incident came to light in the evening when she did not respond despite repeated knocks on the door. Her father later broke open the door and found her hanging, police said.
Bagalagunte police have registered a UDR (Unnatural Death Report) case, and further investigation is underway.
