Woman commits suicide by jumping into well in Bantwal
Bantwal: A 35-year old woman committed suicide on Thursday early morning by jumping into a well in Siddakatte under Bantwal Rural Police Station limits here,
The deceased has been identified as Pratibha Jain (35), wife of one Abhay Jain, a resident of Mugeru.
According to the police complaint filed by the family, Pratibha committed suicide by jumping into the well at around 6:00 am after her husband left for Hassan to attend wedding ceremony of a relative at 5:00 am.
Pratibha’s father Jenarajayya, a resident of Chikkamagaluru has lodged a complaint at Bantwal Rural Police Station demanding a thorough investigation into the case.
Bantwal Circle Police Inspector T D Nagaraj, Rural Police Sub-Inspector Prasanna and other police personnel visited the spot and have started investigation into the matter.

Yogish Goudar murder case: Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni, 16 others sentenced to life imprisonment

Bengaluru: A special court for people’s representatives has sentenced Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni and 16 others to life imprisonment in connection with the murder of BJP leader Yogish Goudar.
The verdict was delivered by judge Santhosh Gajanana Bhat. The court had earlier, on Wednesday, held all 17 accused guilty of murdering Goudar, while reserving the quantum of punishment.
On Friday, the court pronounced the sentence, awarding life imprisonment to all the convicted persons in the case.
Yogish Goudar, a BJP member from the Hebballi Zilla Panchayat constituency in Dharwad district, was murdered in 2016.
