Puttur: A 45-year-old woman, Eshwari, from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu has been arrested by the Puttur Town Police in a case of theft of gold jewelry in town about one and a half months ago and jewelry worth approximately Rs 6 lakh has been confiscated by the police.

A complaint had been filed with the Town Police that gold jewelry had been stolen from the bag of Reshma N at the KSRTC Bus Stand in Puttur town on February 12. The police team investigating the case, which was found to be one of interstate theft of jewelry, have now arrested Eshwari and seized the jewelry from her.

Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Rishyant CB and Additional SP Dharmappa MN guided the team for the investigation of the interstate crime. Further, Puttur Sub-division Deputy SP Arun Nagegowda directed the police team, which was led by Puttur Town Station Inspector Satish JJ and included Puttur Town Sub-inspectors Nandakumar MM and Subrahmanya H as well as Head Constables Zacharia MA, K Basavaraj, Jagadish and Subrahmanya, constables Vinayak S Barki and Sharanappa Patil, woman constable Revathi and Dakshina Kannada District Computer Division staff members C Sampath and CPC Diwakar.

Lucknow, Apr 27: Skipper Sanju Samson led from the front with an unbeaten 33-ball 71 while Dhruv Jurel made 52 not out off 34 balls to guide Rajasthan Royals to a seven-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants, in their IPL match here on Saturday.

Chasing 197, Samson and Jurel shared unconquered 121 runs for the fourth wicket to chase down the target in 19 overs.

Earlier, skipper KL Rahul hit a 48-ball 76 while Deepak Hooda made 50 off 31 balls to guide Lucknow Super Giants to a decent 196 for 5 against Rajasthan Royals.

Sent into bat, LSG rode on 115-run third-wicket stand between Rahul and Hooda to put up a fighting total.

Sandeep Sharma was the most successful bowler for RR, returning with figures of 2/31.
