Udupi: Udupi Police on Saturday booked Rekha, the mother of two-year old girl who was reported to be abducted on Thursday and her body was found on Friday in a water stream. The police booked Rekha for the murder of infant.

In an unexpected turn of events, Rekha had on Friday during investigations confessed of killing her daughter while also attempting to commit suicide.

Rekha allegedly attempted suicide by jumping in the river along with her son and daughter but she and her son survived and her daughter was washed away.

Police sources also added that Rekha was mentally unstable and was being counselled by medical team. She has been booked under section 302 of IPC for murder, 307 for attempt to murder and for attempting suicide.

On July 11, a case was registered with Udupi police adding the Rekha’s daughter Sanvika was abducted by unidentified people late at night, investigating the matter, the police had recovered body of Sanvika from a water stream near her home on Friday.

Ahmedabad (PTI): Shubman Gill led from the front with a classy 86 as Gujarat Titans defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by five wickets in an Indian Premier League match here on Friday.

Earlier, KKR all-rounder Cameron Green produced a fighting 79 off 55 balls to lift his side to 180 all out. In reply, Gill anchored the chase with a composed 86 off 50 deliveries as GT crossed the line in 19.4 overs.

The win marked GT's third successive victory after opening with two losses, while KKR's search for their first win of the season continues.
