Bengaluru: Karnataka on Thursday reported 442 new cases of Coronavirus while also reporting 519 recoveries. With the new cases, the total number of cases in the state has gone up to 10,560.

The state also reported six deaths due to the deadly virus which has taken the tally of fatalities to 170. Bengaluru Rural reported three deaths while Mysuru, Dakshina Kannada, and Kalaburagi reported one death each, a health bulletin from the Health and Family Welfare Department added on Thursday evening.

Among the Districts that reported fresh cases on Thursday are Bengaluru Urban 113, Kalaburagi 35, Ramnagar 33, Dakshina Kannada 29, Dharwad 26, Bellary 26, Mysuru 22, Bagalkote 18, Kodagu 18, Udupi 14, Hassan 12, Bengaluru Rural 12, Uttara Kannada 11, Gadag 10, Vijaypur 10, Haveri 10, Mandya 9, Bidar 8, Davangere 7, Shivmoga 4, Belagavi 4, Kolar 4, Yadgiri 2, Chikkaballapur 2, Chamrajnagar, Chikkamagaluru and Tumkuru reported one ease each.

Of the 10,560 cases, 6,670 have recovered and have been discharged from the hospitals, including 519 on Thursday. 170 people have succumbed to the virus in the state while there are 3,716 active cases, the bulletin added.

Bengaluru (PTI): Two people were arrested at the Kempegowda International Airport here for attempting to smuggle hydroponic ganja valued at Rs 5.79 crore, upon their arrival from Bangkok on Wednesday, officials said

They seized 16.54 kg of hydroponic ganja, which was concealed in the checked-in baggage, the Bengaluru Customs said in a post on 'X'.

Both the accused were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, it said.

Meanwhile, the Customs officials at the Bengaluru Airport also disposed of 287.5 kg of Ganja (Hydroponic Weed) and 1.17 kg of Cocaine seized under the NDPS Act, 1985, in accordance with CBIC (Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs) Disposal Manual on March 17, it said in another post.
