Bengaluru: The Home Department has released the provisional selection list for 545 Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) positions on Monday, a recruitment process that had sparked significant controversy.
The recruitment notification for the 545 PSI posts was issued by the Home Department in 2021, and the exam was conducted on November 3, 2022. However, due to allegations of irregularities, the provisional list of 545 selected candidates was cancelled by the government.
The candidates challenged this decision in the High Court, but the court dismissed the petitions and ordered a re-examination. It also directed the government to ensure transparency in the recruitment process and assigned the responsibility of conducting the examination to the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). Following the re-exam, the provisional list has now been released.
In connection with the PSI recruitment scam, former ADGP of the recruitment division, Amrit Paul, key figure R.D. Patil, several police officials, government officers, and over 100 accused, including candidates from across the state, were arrested by CID officers.
