Raichur, Aug 18: As many as 58 students of a government school in this district took ill after having mid-day meals, education officials said on Thursday.

The incident happened in Amingadh village in Maski Taluk on Wednesday, where 35 girls and 23 boys were admitted to the hospital complaining of stomach pain and vomiting, the officials said.

"Only three had the problem and others were stable. But due to panic, they too got admitted. They are now under observation," the officer said.

An inquiry has been initiated into the matter, he added.

Bengaluru: Mystery shrouded the death of a young woman who was found with her throat and wrist slit on Wednesday.

Prabhudhya (21), who was studying in second PUC, lived with her mother and brother. She was found dead in the bathroom of her house in Subrahmanyapura on Wednesday evening with her throat and wrist slit, police said.

The incident came to light around 7 pm on Wednesday.

The PUC student is said to have died of excess bleeding.

Bengaluru South Division DCP Lokesh B Jagalasar said an investigation is on and would cover all aspects of the incident.
