Bengaluru, February 25: A seven year old boy died after he was electrocuted while playing in a park in Banasawadi police station limits in the city on Sunday.
The deceased boy has been identified as Uday (7), son of Nagaraj and Gowri of Grape Garden in the city.

According to the reports, Uday, along with his parents had been to Rajkumar Park main road on Sunday evening, when he came in contact with a live electric wire of an electric pole and was electrocuted.
The parents along with locals staged protest against BBMP and BESCOM officials for dereliction in duty and demanded action against the concerned people. A case was also registered at Banaswadi police station.
Minister’s visit: Rs 10 lakh compensation
The BBMP has announced Rs 10 lakh compensation to the family of the boy. Mayor Gangambike and Minister KJ George visited the spot and consoled the parents of Uday. Mayor Gangambike told reporters that the park was handed over to the BDA in 2016, but recently, it was handed back to the BBMP. While handing over to the corporation, the new power line was laid, but during that time, old wires were not removed and this has led to the accident, he said.

Dhanbad (Jharkhand) (PTI): At least four workers died after being buried under coal slurry in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district on Saturday, a police official said.
The incident took place at Moonidih coal washery in the command area of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL).
"Bodies of all four workers were dug out of debris during a rescue operation," Putki police station in-charge Waqar Hussain told PTI.
The incident took place when coal slurry was being loaded into trucks by workers, during which a large chunk of slurry fell and trapped several workers underneath, officials said.
The deceased have been identified as Manik Bauri, Dinesh Bauri, Deepak Bauri, and Hemlal Gope.
Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased and local villagers placed the bodies in front of the washery gate and began a protest.
They demanded compensation, jobs for dependents and action against those responsible for the incident.
Police and administration officials are trying to pacify the protesters, an official said.
