Bengaluru: In a sudden series of raids that surprised the state’s government officials, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted raids in 78 places in the state including three places in Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Gadag, and Raichur, early on Wednesday morning. 

Reportedly, the residences of the Additional Director of the Mineral Reserve from the Department of Industry and Commerce B. K. Shivakumar, the Additional Commissioner of the Transport Department C. J. Jnanendra Kumar including the residence of the Deputy Director of BDA Urban Planning Rakesh Kumar, were raided by the ACB. 

While Jnanendra Kumar’s residence at Basaveshwara Nagar and Office at Shantinagar was raided by the ACB, Rakesh Kumar’s residence at Nagarbhavi was also raided. The ACB has been reportedly checking the documents recovered at the residence. Project Director of the Vijaypur Nirmitti Center Gopinath Malaji’s residence was also raided by the ACB officials. Three houses in Vijaypur and two houses in Bagalkote have been raided, the ACB officials informed. 

In this raid, 18 government officers are reportedly being searched. More than 200 ACB officials have simultaneously undertaken raids on the houses, offices of the government officers along with other places, and are verifying documents, files found in their possession, it is learned.

Bidar (PTI): Bike-borne armed robbers shot dead two security guards before decamping with Rs 93 lakh cash meant for filling the SBI ATM in the district headquarters town of Bidar on Thursday, police said.

Police identified the deceased as Giri Venkatesh and Shiva Kashinath. They were the staff of CMS Agency. The staff had come to the ATM located on the busy Shivaji Chowk to fill the cash at 11.30 am, they said.

Sources said the robbers fired eight rounds to execute their crime. Soon after the incident, police rushed to the spot and barricaded all the roads nearby. Police have formed teams to nab the culprits.
