Bengaluru: Karnataka BJP President BS Yeddyurappa said that Union Minister and BJP lawmaker from Karnataka Anantkumar Hegde has been warned not to make communally provocative remarks.

In an interview to a private news channel, he said "I don't agree with such remarks. Anantkumar Hegde has been warned not to speak like that."

"Anant Kumar Hegde has apologized in the parliament for his controversial remarks," Yeddyurappa said.

Another BJP leader from Karnataka, Shobha Karandlaje had tweeted "Jihadis tried to rape and murder girl studying in 9th std near Honnavar. Why is the government silent about this incident? Arrest those who molested and injured this girl. Where are you CM?" But later, it was learned that the girl had dramatically made herself injured. The silence of Yeddyurappa, in this case, had raised several questions.

However, in his interview, he claimed that all BJP leaders in the state have been warned from making incendiary comments. "We asked them to stop all such things," he said.

In response to the Congress president's visits to temples in Karnataka, he described Rahul Gandhi, as an "Election Hindu."

"Divide and rule has been the policy of Congress. For BJP Hindutva is the development of all religions. Whereas Rahul Gandhi is trying to please people by visiting temples," he said.
