Anant Kumar Hegde's escort vehicle hit by truck, minister suspects 'attempt on his life'
Haveri: Union minister Anant Kumar Hegde's escort vehicle was hit by a truck at Halageri in Ranebennur taluk of Haveri district on Tuesday night. The truck driver has been arrested.
However, Hegde claimed that the truck made an unsuccessful attempt to hit his car before ramming into the escort vehicle. He also alleged that incident was a "deliberate attempt" on his life.

A deliberate attempt on my life seems to have been executed just now. A truck on NH, near Halageri in Ranebennur taluk of Haveri district has hit my escort vehicle which tried to hit my vehicle in the first instance. Since our vehicle was in top speed we escaped the hit. pic.twitter.com/2w8zzq26UU

Suspecting a "bigger nexus" behind the incident, the Union minister urged the police to take the case seriously and expressed confidence that the perpetrators would be exposed.

Dharmasthala mass burial case: Two complainants appear before SIT in Belthangady
Belthangady: Two people, Purandara Gowda and Thularama Gowda of Dharmasthala, who had earlier filed complaints in relation to the Dharmasthala mass burial case and claimed to have witnessed the burial of bodies, spoke to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) officials on Wednesday.
Prior to the meeting, Purandara Gowda told reporters that he used to own a shop situated on the banks of River Nethravathi. “While at the shop, I had seen bodies being buried, in all likelihood, by the anonymous witness. I have, however, seen more than one person being involved in this work at the first and 13th sites identified by the witness,” he has said.
Thularama Gowda has said that he had seen the burial of bodies at sites beyond those identified by the witness. “The SIT will be provided the information on the matter,” Gowda added.
